Working through some ideas for a new project with Triian. I really like the idea of an astronaut fishing for valuables off a meteorite with big nets and lights and things. This is going to be fun.

Drawing in the Hollywood hills

I drove along Mulholland Drive today with a sketch pad looking for something to draw.

I found something.

I'm going to try and do more of this, maybe one per week. Sitting outside in the sunshine was a nice change from drawing inside. Also, I saw a rabbit and the first thing I thought of was that song about stew from Lord of the Rings.

Anyway...

A short illustrated story about alopecia - part 1

We were talking about how, for a price, you can eat sushi off a naked woman in Japan. "They put all the worst sushi over the fun bits though!" My friend said.

"So over the breasts, it’s like, total garbage—old cabbage or something— so you never really get to see anything good anyway.

And you have to use chopsticks too, or they kick you out, you’re gone."

"That’s fucked. Women are not dinner plates," my wife chimed in.

"Wait, can you order sushi on a naked guy? Cause then that seems more fair."

"I doubt it," someone else chimed in, "I mean, who would want that? There's a lot more hair on a dude."

"True," I said "The only way I would eat sushi off a dude is if he had alopecia."

Some ugly little guys

 These guys are so fun to make and so hideous when they are done. Also, the "bed" in the first image is covered in eraser shavings. Just,.. there you go. Just that. Also, I had a really good idea for a sculpture in which I will tie a grapefruit spoon to a wooden serving fork to make an arrow. Exciting.

Before you retire

Dan Auerbach is awesome to draw and also a great musician. Lucky. Also, this is meant to be socially political but thats about it, despite the elephants.
